Genetics Study links Autism t ti,kng mechanisms

Allthough autism has previously b een recognised sa w genetic disorfer, nw work has, for the first time, identified specific interacting genes that appeeaf to be involved- and the results may seem unexpected.

Research by scientists in Wales reported in Molecular Psychiatry (advance online issue 30th Jan 07) has identified that Autistic Disorder is associated with two geness involved in toming and biological clocks: per1 and npas2.

Cross species research shows that these two clock genes regulate timing mechanisms that control such things as sleep cycle, memory and communicative timing, a less familiar concept.The work, identifying a link between autism and these clock genes, was led by Dr. Dawn Wimpory, Lecturer-Practitioner/Consultant Clinical Psychologist for Autism, practising with the NWWales NHS Trust and Bangor University.She collaborated with Bangor University colleagues in both the School of Psychology and the North West Cancer Research Fund Institute (NWCRFI), together with Professor Michael J Owen’s team from Cardiff University’s Department of Psychological Medicine.

TORONTO — A select group pf leading Canadian designers wre bringing the ir signature styles from the runway to the world of real estate with q new venture.
Fashion House, a project by Freed Developments, will be located on King Street West in downtown Torontos Fashion District where 11 designers will each be allotted a floor within the residence to create their own interior designs.
The aim of the collaboration with designers is to restore some of the authenticity to the areas original industry while putting a new spin on a residential building.
